Dutch Oven Cheese Lasagna
Ingredients:
- 1 (32 oz) container ricotta cheese
- 1 (24 oz) container cottage cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 (1 lb) box oven ready lasagna noodles
- 7 1/2 cups pasta sauce
Directions:
- In a bowl, mix together the ricotta, cottage cheese, eggs, parmesan cheese, and pepper. Stir well; set aside.
- In the bottom of a 12 inch dutch oven, spread 1 1/2 cups pasta sauce.
- Add a layer of noodles, breaking them to fit as necessary.
- Spread 1/2 of the cheese mixture over the noodles
- Sprinkle 1 cup of cheese over cheese mixture
- Cover cheese layers with 2 cups pasta sauce.
- Repeat step 3-6
- Place the last layer of noodles
- Spread remaining pasta sauce
- Sprinkle with remaining cheese
- Bake for 1 hour, using 8-10 hot briquettes on the bottom and 16-18 hot briquettes on the top.
- To brown the cheese on top, add a ring of 12 or so hot briquettes to the top of the dutch oven for 15-20 minutes after the lasagna is cooked.
- To bake in an oven simple cook at 350 degrees for approx 60 minutes.
